Steve Schwartz

I knew at an early age that I wanted to become a veterinarian and have spent my adult life living that dream. Throughout my entire veterinary journey, whether treating small animals, horses, or performing acupuncture on zoo animals, I’ve retained the same sense of wonder I’d known as a young child. In the spring of 2013 I travelled full circle, stepping down from my position as Director of Veterinary Services at the Humane Society of Missouri in order to channel my love of children, animals and language into my next career as a children’s book author.

I write both fiction and non-fiction picture books. Many of my stories were inspired by animals and people whom I’ve met along the way.
